Every year the University of Ulster (UU) sends a squad to represent the University in the Irish Intervarsity tournament, and every year girls from the UUJ Ladies Hockey Club feature highly on the squad.  Players are only eligible for the squad if they represent the either the UUJ or the UUC Ladies Hockey Club's in regular competitive fixtures.

From the Irish Intervarsity tournament an Irish Universities squad is selected, last year Lynn Handley was selected and played in Paris against French Premier League sides in a series of Test Matches and later in the year she then played in the annual Irish Colleges vs Irish Universities match in Dublin.

Each year a University in Ireland takes the responsibility of hosting, UU last hosted in 1999.  This year it is the turn of the old enemy Queens University Belfast.  This year's tournament will be played over a weekend (27th - 29th October).  For more information visit www.uuhockey.net.
